2025年11月初-12月中，华裔德国艺术家杜耀豪（Dieu Hao Do ）将在新造空间开展为期6周的驻地，该项目由歌德学院（中国）与新造空间共同合作支持。

同时，围绕这次驻地，我们将招募一位研究员，与我们和艺术家一同，潜入这段关于离散、家庭、迁徙与身份认同的探索之旅。

关于艺术家及驻地方向

杜耀豪（Dieu Hao Do ）出生于德国，曾在巴贝尔斯伯格电影大学（Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF）学习电影导演。他是德国非营利团体“柏林亚裔电影网络”（Berlin Asian Film Network，简称BAFNET）的组织者，该组织致力于在电影和电视作品中以更多元的方式呈现德籍亚裔的真实生活。

目前，他在柏林从事编剧和导演工作。在他的电影中，他探索当代德国亚裔的视角与离散生活（diaspora），特别聚焦于家庭、战争和移民背景下的代际议题。凭借长片作品《HAO ARE YOU》（由德国电视台 ZDF Das kleine Fernsehspiel 出品），他荣获了2023 年 First Steps Award。他也是柏林电影节“天才计划”（Berlinale Talents）的成员以及Villa Aurora 的驻地艺术家。

在新造空间的驻留期间，Dieu Hao Do 将探索其父系家族的历史。关注焦点在于逃亡、迁徙与沉默的经历如何跨越代际，塑造了个体的身份认同。同时，受其在“柏林亚洲电影网络”（BAFNET）工作的启发，他也希望能与当地艺术家、相关实践者进行交流，并组织一场关于亚裔离散社群的短片放映会。

关于研究员招募

**对于这次驻地，我们寻求的并不是一位协助者，而是一位研究上的对话者与同行者。**我们期待的研究员，能以其独特的视野参与驻地项目的落地过程，与艺术家就其研究主题进行深入探讨，并帮助艺术家理解在地的历史与语境。

研究员无需全程、全职参与驻地工作，我们更看重的是研究员的主动性、独立思考、研究的深入性，以及与艺术家之间必要而深刻的交流。同时，研究员将获得一小笔研究补贴。

你的主要工作将包括：

• 研究与对话： 主动与艺术家沟通交流，围绕其驻地主题提供研究支持，并参与深入讨论 。
• 在地联结：参与我们为艺术家策划的在地拜访、田野调查及公共活动等。
• 沉淀： 在驻地项目结束后3个月内，完成一篇不少于2500字的研究文章（中文） 。

我们希望你：

• 对华人离散、影像艺术及驻地项目有基本的了解与热情 。
• 具备独立的研究能力与沟通能力 。
• 能够流利地使用英语进行深度交流 。
• 对当代艺术有独立的认知与思辨，专业、年龄不限

Artist Announcement & Residency Researcher Recruitment

From early November to mid-December 2025, Chinese-German artist Dieu Hao Do will undertake a six-week residency at Making Space, a project jointly supported by the Goethe-Institut (China) and Making Space.

In conjunction with this residency, we are recruiting a researcher to join us and the artist on an exploratory journey into diaspora, family, migration, and identity.

About the Resident Artist

Born in Stadthagen, Lower Saxony, Dieu Hao Do studied film directing at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF. He is the Community Organizer of the non-profit initiative Berlin Asian Film Network (BAFNET), which is committed to differentiated representations of Asian-German realities in film and television.

Today, he works as a screenwriter and director in Berlin. In his films, he explores contemporary Asian-German perspectives and life in the diaspora, with a focus on intergenerational issues related to family, war and migration and was awarded the First Steps Award 2023 with his feature film HAO ARE YOU (ZDF Das kleine Fernsehspiel). He is a Berlinale Talents Alumni and a Villa Aurora Fellow.

In Guangzhou, Dieu Hao Do will explore part of his paternal family history. The focus will be on how experiences of flight, displacement, and silence shape identity across generations. At the same time, he wants to promote exchange with local artists and organize a community screening of Asian diaspora short films, inspired by his work with the Berlin Asian Film Network (BAFNET).

About the Researcher Recruitment

For this residency, we are not just looking for an assistant, but a dialogical partner and a fellow traveller in research. We hope the researcher will participate in the residency project with their unique perspective, engage in in-depth discussions with the artist on their research topic, and help the artist understand the local historical and social context.

The researcher is not required to participate full-time. We place more emphasis on the researcher's initiative, independent thinking, depth of research, and the necessary and profound exchanges with the artist. The selected researcher will receive a small research stipend.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Research and Dialogue: Proactively communicate with the artist, provide research support centred on his residency theme, and participate in in-depth discussions.
• Local Connection: Participate in local visits, field research, and public events planned for the artist.
• Writing and Reflection: Complete a research article of no less than 2,500 words (in Chinese) within three months after the residency ends.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a foundational understanding of and passion for the topics of the Chinese diaspora, lens-based art, and artist residency programs.
• Possesses excellent independent research and communication skills. Is fluent in English for in-depth communication.
• Has an independent and critical perspective on contemporary art. Professionals of all ages and backgrounds are welcome.

Synopsis

The American War in Vietnam scattered them across three continents. Nearly 50 years after their escape, contact between the seven family members has all but broken down.
